Artist Statement

"In this recent series of paintings called "Earth and Sky", I have reduced the landscape to it's most basic elements, allowing color to take center stage. Each painting shares a simple horizon line in common, but each varies greatly in energy and mood. The "chemistry" of the color compositions create reflections of internal states of being - ranging from anxious or disturbed, to peaceful and serene. The expansive, unobstructed and unpopulated views are intended to draw the viewer into this space, to experience that personal reflection and insight that comes with a walk alone in nature."

About The Artist

Jessica Torrant is an emerging, contemporary artist from Connecticut. Her work has been collected throughout the US, UK, and Canada. She has exhibited at the Raw Arts Festival in London, and she recently hosted the Art 4 People International Festival of Modern Art, which featured the work of over 20 modern artists from around the world. Jessica is a member of Artwell Gallery, and has exhibited in many juried, group and solo shows throughout New England. She studied fine art with a focus in painting at the Universities of New Hampshire and California, and received her BA in 1999 from UNH.
