Artist Statement

I have been an artist as long as I can remember. My twin sister and I, artist Sherry Collins, took art lessons from the Fuller Memorial Art Museum in Brockton, MA. I received my B.F.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth MA in 1978. I also took extra courses so that I could become an art teacher. While in college I received an honorable mention for three pieces of pen, and ink drawings that were completed for a student show in my senior year. For many years I have been focusing my career as an elementary art teacher, and raising two wonderful young men. Currently I have been teaching elementary art for ten years at the C. A. Farley School in Hudson, MA.
My style in painting is realistic, and impressionistic. I prefer watercolor painting even though I have used other mediums as well. My subjects of my paintings are of nature and of objects that have meaning to me. I look at the act of painting as a worship experience due to my strong faith in God.
